Back to the Daily Grind

I have often said that going back to the daily grind of freelance writing, with the present state of the internet world,
would be akin to opening a franchise of Brontosaurus Burger, (would you like boiled yams with that?) Restaurants:

  • no reliable suppliers,
  • very few customers,
  • the new internet credo that decrees that no one should have to pay for anything creative,
  • and at least 5 competitors on every block ranging from the barely competent to the barely readable,
  • let alone the excellent practitioners from the old school who are still grinding on amid the mire.

Yeah sure I have kept my hand in over recent years editing the occasional book for friends, writing bits and pieces
under various pseudonyms, and churning out sarcasm and vitriol for various blogs ( yes there is a serious message
in each of them for serious photographers, and especially young naive models to heed):

Apart from that though, due to a very well hidden hint (well I thought so anyway) in one of my blogs which skirted
the possibility of doing some serious writing, I have ended up doing more writing in the past seven days,
than I have in the past seven years.

This coming week for instance will see me finishing a blog for models, which I have been struggling with for a month
or two simply because it encompasses one of the most important topics  all models, and not just naive,
impressionable young girls, should be aware of : The Naked Truth about Nudity as it relates to the success or not
of model portfolios, and the wiles of fauxpro photographers.

Also I will issuing a series of Press Releases for a local photography school who are in the throws of opening
a new studio complex and area organizing a Model Search competition to celebrate.:

And just this morning; a commission to rewrite and update a local history booklet for Lake Macquarie and
District Historical Society: the Early History of Toronto” has been an iconic text seemingly since those
aforementioned Brontosauruses were around, but has not been updated since1990, so here we go.

So it is arthritic fingers to the grindstone, and get that slightly demented mind working again!

Brontosaurus Burger anyone?

And I think I will need supersized boiled yams with that...
